Who Can Be Sponsored

A family residence permit is generally available to the spouse and dependent children of a Turkish citizen or of a foreigner who already holds a valid residence permit or is a long-term resident. The sponsor's own status matters: what can be applied for, and how straightforward the process is, depends on whether the sponsor is a citizen, a permanent resident, or someone holding a shorter-term permit of their own.

What the Application Needs to Show

Beyond the family relationship itself — typically proven through marriage or birth certificates recognized in Türkiye — applications generally need to demonstrate suitable accommodation and sufficient means to support the family members being sponsored. Documents issued abroad usually need to be apostilled and officially translated before they are accepted, and gaps here are a frequent, avoidable cause of delay.
